Rail Forum East Midlands
Rail Forum East Midlands, which was formerly known as the Derby and Derbyshire Rail Forum (DDRF), represents more than 150 businesses throughout the East Midlands – businesses which employ over 25,000 people and contribute £2.6bn to the local economy.
Formed in 1993 the DDRF was originally created to promote the area as a world class centre of rail excellence. Its members include infrastructure and rolling stock designers and consultancies, installers, manufacturers, OEMs and a wide range of service providers to the industry. The RFEM works strategically with both UK and regional governments, the Rail Supply Group (RSG) and our local LEPs as well as continuing to support our members through specific events.
The National Skills Academy for Rail was established with wide railway industry support to help tackle current and future skills needs within the railway engineering industry.
NSAR Limited was incorporated in January 2011 as a ‘not for profit’ company, wholly owned by its members and ‘opened for business’ from its National Office in central London. Today the organisation has in excess of 350 members and continues to grow and develop. Membership includes railway companies, private sector training companies, Further Education Colleges, Universities, Qualification Development and Awarding Organisations.

SEMTA and EAL
Semta is the Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies, covering 76,000 businesses employing 2 million people in the UK. Semta works closely with Sector Strategy Groups to drive improvements in productivity by transforming skills. Semta is part of the Skills for Business network of 25 Sector Skills Councils, each one an employer-led, independent organisation.
EAL (EMTA Awards Limited) is a sister organisation to Semta and is a leading awarding organisation and QCF submitting body for engineering, building services and related sectors, offering a wide range of vocational qualifications for industry.
The National Skills Academy Process Industries is an employer-led centre of excellence launched to address skills and training needs throughout the chemical, polymer, pharmaceutical manufacturing sectors.
The Skills Academy aims to create a highly skilled workforce capable of competing on a global stage as well as promoting the Process Industries as a progressive and exciting career choice. Its main aim is to encourage employers to engage in frontline staff training so that their current workforce can achieve accredited qualifications to an industry-wide Gold Standard.
Blue Lion Management Consulting specialises in Lean and Six Sigma training and consultancy with a particular focus on the Marine and Aerospace industries. Qualitrain has formed a strategic partnership with Blue Lion to offer funded routes to business and process improvement and assistance with the requirements of the apprenticeship levy, alongside Blue Lion’s existing coaching, consulting, and project management services.
Capella Associates has an impressive track record in the provision of Consultancy, Training, Coaching, Technical Support and Assessment in business-critical areas including Strategic Management, Problem Solving and Process Improvement, Lean Six Sigma and Quality Tools, working with leading names in the Automotive, Aerospace, Construction, and other sectors.
