This Level 3 Data Technician programme is built to equip learners with essential KSB’s (knowledge skills and behaviours) allowing them to compile, analyse and understand data to feedback to shareholders.

During this course apprentices will learn, through a mixture of classroom and practical experience:

How to extract, migrate, and blend structured and unstructured datasets from various internal and external sources
Techniques to audit data quality, which involves identifying faults, parsing anomalies, removing duplicates, and ensuring data integrity before analysis
Applying basic statistical methods, algorithms, and data modelling to identify trends, patterns, and outliers within the data.
Mastering software like Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Tableau to build interactive dashboards, charts, and clear technical documentation
Working in strict compliance with legal, security, and data protection standards (such as GDPR), while learning how data interacts with emerging technologies like Generative AI

The Level 3 Data Technician

The Level 3 Data Technician Apprenticeship helps learners develop the skills needed to work confidently with data in a modern business environment. Throughout the programme, apprentices learn how to collect, organise, analyse and present data in a way that supports better decision-making and business performance. Combining practical workplace application with industry-recognised best practice, learners gain experience working with data from multiple sources, maintaining data quality, producing meaningful reports and communicating insights to a range of stakeholders. By the end of the apprenticeship, apprentices will be equipped to turn data into valuable business information, helping organisations improve efficiency, identify opportunities and make more informed decisions

Assessment Methods

There are 2 assessment methods used when it comes to the end point assessment. This is a project proposal with a presentation, that is followed up by a Q&A session, that aims to cover technical and practical requirements. The focus of this is to assess the core business analysis tools, communication skills and a practical application of the KSBs.

The second assessment method used is a professional discussion, underpinned by a portfolio of evidence, this focuses on allowing the apprentices to authenticate their work, explain their workplace experience and prove competence across the requires KSB standards.
