APPRENTICE LIFTING ENGINEER VACANCY

We are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring Lifting Equipment Engineer at Lifting Gear & Safety Ltd. You will join a talented team of individuals at our Bristol Depot and learn all about the trade on this advanced apprenticeship programme, providing you with skills for life in an exciting and ever-growing industry.

Apprenticeship Summary

Annual wage

£16,575.00

Under 18 – £6.00ph (£13,260 per annum) 18 and over – £7.50ph (£16,575 per annum)* *Apprentices aged 19 or over will be earn £7.50ph in their first year, raising to NMW rate for their age from their second year.

Working week

Monday to Friday 07:30 – 17:00

Total hours per week: 42.5

(hours are based on the candidate being over 18)

What will the apprentice be doing?

Each day will be varied, but you can expect to complete the following tasks:

  • Learning about general health & safety
  • Dealing with customers both in the depot and on site
  • Shadowing trained engineers
  • Assisting with works
  • Learning about the organisation
  • Working with specialist lifting equipment
  • Learning & familiarising yourself with routine tests and inspections
  • Learning how to use the various platforms used for recording relevant information
  • Assisting within the depot when needed 
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Over the 2 years, you will work towards completing your Level 3 Lifting Equipment Technician Apprenticeship. This will be via a model of blended learning which will include face-to-face and online training sessions with Qualitrain.

You will occasionally be required to travel to LEEA’s training facility, particularly to complete your Gateway and End Point Assessments.

You will also achieve 3x LEEA Qualifications during your apprenticeship, these are: LEEA Foundation Certificate, LEEA Lifting Accessories Course Diploma and LEEA Manual Lifting Machines Diploma.

The frequency of your training will be 2 online sessions a month, followed by a few block visits to LEEA’s training facility in Hungtindon, to complete face-to-face sessions.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

It is expected that upon succesful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be offered a permanent full-time position with LGS group, as well as continued progression opportunities to further develop your career.
